Ours is the only senior college in the village and its surrounding area. Most of the students taking admissions in the college are local and belong to the nearby villages.

The admission process is carried out as per government rules. Enough care is taken that specific earmarked seats of each category are filled up. The statutory committees of the college are well balanced with the representation of each category.

Mahatma Gandhi Sarvodaya Sangh is functional in the village from 1952, its activities related to education of the rural masses have had huge impact on the development of the region around Uruli kanchan. The schools run by the Sangh are at the center point of the social and economic sphere of the village.

Mission of Mahatma Gandhi Sarvodaya Sangh

Our organization was founded on the principles of ‘Sarvodaya’ as envisioned by Mahatma Gandhiji.

As a means of empowerment of rural community we have put a great importance on education.

We put girls and boys at the heart of our endeavours.

Our approach is providing skill based education and nurturing inner strengths of students, which will empower the generations to uplift themselves and the society.

Our Purpose

We try to serve as an enabler for rural population, our purpose is –

1.        To serve in the field of education.

2.        Education of Girls from rural background.  

3.        Impart quality education at lowest costs.

4.        Make students employable through skill based technical education.

5.        Enable the lower strata of society to uplift them.

6.       Extend outreach of education.

In extension activities of the college, local citizen’s participation is commendable. The Grampanchayat, Govt. Hospital, Agricultural office etc. are fully involved in the national developmental activities, national festivals, awareness rallies, and government campaigns.

The socio-economic conditions of surrounding area are somewhat different from the urban area. The college has played an effective role in the village to maintain the social harmony and national integration. The college regularly organizes different activities for inculcating the values of tolerance, harmony towards cultural diversities. Its activities have a very positive impact on the society’s cultural environment.

The surrounding area is transitioning from rural to urban and businesses are coming up. Digital technology is being used increasingly in the area. The college has conducted various short term courses like Computerized Accounting in Tally, Spoken English so as to enable the students to find employment in the nearby area.

Our institution also runs the Gandhian thoughts exam in collaboration with Gandhi Research Foundation, Jalgaon. This exercise helped students gain understanding of the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhiji, this was apt because it was the touch of Mahatma that has transformed this village.

The college runs the Board of Extra-Mural Studies. Through this, a lecture series is organized in the village each year called ‘Sant Gadgebaba Lecture Series’. Well known personalities from all over Maharashtra have visited Uruli Kanchan to deliver lectures in this series. Senior Citizen Association of Uruli Kanchan works closely with the college and organizes this series.   

The students are made aware of values of tolerance and harmony about cultural regional, linguistic communal socio-economic and other diversities by arranging lectures through Savitribai Phule Universities initiatives like Dr Babasaheb Jaykar Lecture Series.  

To underline the linguistic importance Department of Marathi celebrates various activities such as ‘Marathi Rajbhasha Din’, Birth Anniversaries of all national heroes are celebrated with the local community. Thus, the college has created very positive image for all the community.
